Amplifying the voices of children with disabilities in Africa to fight for their rights
By amplifying the voices of children and young people with disabilities with knowledge of their rights, they break down the barriers to their inclusion and fulfil their potential.
PROJECT IN RWANDA
For too long children with disabilities have been forgotten, hidden and systematically left behind. A key reason is that the children and their parents have been unaware of their rights and disempowered in the fight for justice.
We have been working in Uganda,Kenya,Tanzania, Rwanda,Malawi, and Zambia to amplify the voices of children with disabilities to fight for their rights. In the last five years...
Rights Clubs Created
We have set up 106 disability-inclusive child rights clubs to enable children to fight for their rights.
We have informed 8,979 children with disabilities on their rights and disability-inclusive child protection.
We have trained 114 young people with disabilities to better advocate for the inclusion of children and young people with disabilties.
How you can make a difference
Only one in ten children with a disability has access to any form of education. Simple solutions are often all it takes. It costs just £5 to provide a child with an individualised support pack, which includes essential equipment for them to be able to access education.
