It is at the end of this quarter that we sadly bid farewell to Paul Harrison, who is currently the Chair of our board of trustees and has been a trustee of Able Child Africa’s since 2014.

He has been an extremely dedicated Chair and board member who has gone above and beyond for the organisation consistently, from running the London Marathon in 2017 to delivering direct capacity building with our partners in 2019, and always steering our charity with passion and professionalism.

Although he won’t be leaving us completely, as Paul will continue his role as President and Chair of the US Friends of Able Child Africa, his knowledge, guidance and kindness in the UK will certainly be missed.

Following Paul’s departure, we are delighted that Jim Sellars will be taking over as Chair of Able Child Africa. Jim has been on the board since January 2018 and is moving up from his position as Chair of the Resources Sub-Committee. Jim brings with him great strategic and financial management expertise, well equipped to guide the organisation through the next phase of its journey.

I feel privileged to become Chair of the board of trustees given the strength of our staff team and the board of trustees. Karl leads an immensely dedicated and professional team who work alongside our local partners to protect, educate and empower children with disabilities. I am looking forward to seeing Able Child Africa continue to go from strength to strength and improve the lives of many more children with disabilities in years to come.” – Jim Sellars
