The Smiles party at Boujis was a great success and we managed to raise over £5000 on the night itself. To all of you who did attend we want to say a massive THANK YOU for your generosity and for sharing a fantastic evening with us. Those of you who didn’t attend, missed out on a great night out, but do not despair there will be more chances!

The success of the Smiles party and the donations you have made have taken our total far higher than the £4000 we initially aimed for, we have so fair raised almost £8,000 and our new goal is £10,000. As a result we will be able to help more children by increasing the number who are supported and holding an additional surgical camp.

The donations link is still open if you want to contribute to our project and if you want to know more about how we are hoping to reach our new goal please do not hesitate to contact Malin Rosenkvist on 07881613793 or malinrosenkvist@hotmail.com

CASE STUDY

Sylvia was born with club feet. She had no hope of ever walking normally. Her own fear and pain was shared by her parents and the community in rural Uganda who had no idea about the possibility of reconstructive surgery.

She was identified during a community outreach by USDC our partner organisation in Uganda. She recalls “Meeting the outreach worker was one of the most memorable days of my life. I was soon identified for surgery which was organized by them at the local hospital. And now, miraculously I am able to walk well. The only challenge is that I occasionally feel pain on my hips whenever I walk long distances or carry heavy loads. This is because my legs are uneven. As a result of the surgery I have also been able to study. I’ so grateful for the opportunity I was offered to have corrective surgery and, as a result a chance to live a full life of my choosing..”
